Bernie: You show up to the date on time, but she seems utterly convinced that you two arranging the date was actually some kind of dream of hers and that you are actually some figment of her imagination or kidnapper out to end her existence. You try for about an hour and totally miss the movie you were going to see before she finally sheepishly opens the door to see if you left, and after discovering the truth tries to reschedule for the next week. Lindhardt: You were late to the concert because he was still sleeping and hadn't got ready yet, so you missed the opening act, then he slept through the main act as well. And through a series of antics while he napped is now crowned "King of the Crowdsurf. No kiss on this one either since he was tired after such a long date. Then he sees Edelgard has the high score in Pac-Sothis, he then abandons the date on the grounds that he cannot let such an affront stand. You go home defeated cause he's gonna be there a long while. Caspar: He wants to go see a hockey game, interesting idea. When a fight breaks out on the ice he gets too excited and jumps into the fray, dragging you along with him. Sure you both spend the night in jail but it was pretty fun when you got a nice right hook on the smug ass forward on the other team. You actually get a kiss off this time. Dorothea: Actually a normal date where nothing goes wrong. Go to dinner, movie, and the park, nothing bad happened, you had a lot to talk over. It would have been perfect except how she seemed to draw the conversation off to the horrors of war with a thousand yard stare so frequently. You do get a good night kiss. But it's a quick peck on the cheek. Petra: It seems there is a tradition in Brigid that a first date is a "test" to see if you're tough enough to start a relationship. She'll tell you the results of the evaluation. You know once you get out of the full body cast she put you in. Blue Lions Dimitri: Despite several attempts to tell him it's not on the menu. He constantly demands vengence whenever the waiter asks for his order. Eventually you just go to hiding behind your menu as he goes off on a tangent over what he's going to do to Edelgard. He admits he had fun on the date. Dedue: He takes you out for a simple date to go people watching. The person you watch is Dimitri and you spend the night ghosting him to make sure he didn't get in trouble. That part of teh date sucked but he cooked dinner for you after and that part was GREAT. He winds up too stoic to offer a kiss though. Felix: You ever hang out with that one friend who complains about literally EVERYTHING? Yeah that's a Felix date. You'll wind up grumpy like him after it's all over. Ashe: He's very gentlemanly during the date, though a bit awkward. Takes you to see a movie about knights. Pays for everything. Cool dude would date again. Mercedes: You go to church for choir practice, then work at a soup kitchen, go entertain orphans, and clean up trash off the highway. You'd call her out on how this is totally not date stuff, but refrain from doing so out of fear that you will anger some deity and get smote or something. Ingrid: Takes you to one of those Medieval Times shows. And gorges on mutton. She also gets chosen to participate in the audience joust and wins hard. Despite her trying to stay stoic you can clearly tell she wants to bounce around and squee like a pre-teen girl who just had a member of a boy band she loves wink at her. Annette: You two go to a karaoke bar expecting a simple night of singing. You end the night questioning how someone that small and dainty could pull off a full Cannibal Corpse album perfectly. You wake up the next morning, your head is pounding, you notice you're in Grondor field, you have a weird tattoo of Sothis on your forehead, Leonie's sleeping next to you without pants on, everything's on fire, oh yeah and you two are apparently married now, congratulations. Raphael: You go to an all you can eat buffet. Raph brought his own giant spoon and puts the buffet out of business. He also took the last stuffed shrimp. The jerk. Ignatz: He takes you to an art gallery. You would succumb to boredom there. But the raw excitement coming from Ignatz is enough to keep you going so as to not break it. He turns meek again when he takes you home though and goes without a good night kiss. Lorenz: he takes you back to his house, shows you a slideshow off all the great things he's done, lets you paint him, and he talks constantly about being the future of his family. You don't know why you agreed to this date. Marianne: You two go to the petting zoo, she comes up with a name for every animal and spends more time talking to them over you. You however care little about this as the look of her smiling as she plays with the critters has already stopped your heart. Don't worry someone called an ambulance. Church of Seiros Seteth: he's come up with a full itinerary for the date and intends to stay to the schedule at all costs. He planned it out for maximum fun. He wants it to go off without a hitch because Flayn got overwhelmingly excited over the prospect of not being in a single parent household anymore. Flayn: You go to a lot of places, but she insists on leaving very quickly to somewhere else every time. You do note that your waiter, the movie usher, the goldfish toss stand owner, that merman you fished up, that statue in the park, and that chicken at the petting zoo all mysteriously looked like the same person. You offer a good night kiss but she declines and says it's "for your own safety" Cyril: His idea of a date seems to be cleaning the whole monastary alongside you. He talks about how happy this will make Rhea. You however are not happy about this. The Gatekeeper: He declines your offer for a date. For he already has a true love in Cel. The gate. Catherine: Takes you drinking at the bar, it devolves into a brawl very quickly and she started it. She got a little too heated though and broke your nose. But hey she paid for the drinks (and the hospital bill) so that's nice. Shamir: you two go to the carnival, she won a giant stuffed bear from the shooting gallery. She converted said bear into a suit so that she could sneak up on her foes easier. Overall though it went pretty well even though she insisted on wearing the giant stuffed bear suit for the rest of the date to test its effectiveness. Hanneman: He takes you to the museum of crestology, you vanish about 2 hours into a 6 hour seminar on crest pigmentation and are never heard from again. Some say you simply died of boredom, others say you faded away and became one with the exhibit. Nobody knows for sure though. Manuella: You quickly learn why she can't hold a boyfriend. She takes you home to a pigsty, gets heavily drunk, and spends the night complaining about everything while crying. The night could lead to a one night stand, but be warned if you aren't out the door by the time she wakes up you're stuck with her forever. Byleth: You go fishing. He/she finds that watch you lost 3 years ago as well, and several socks, he/she always seems to know the right things to say to you, but it always feels like deja vu when he does. Anna: Fantastic date, you go to a new amusement park, have lots of fun, get all the rides, she even pays for everything. How nice. You later learn that she had been taking photos and used them for an ad campaign for the park that she was actually owner of and used you. Rhea: You take her to dinner and a movie. She seems to be enjoying herself, but tends to remain stoic so it's hard to tell. But she does mention a night off is nice every now and then. The bigger issue, in my opinion, isn't even what's being said, but what's NOT being reported by left leaning media. It is clear to me now that they carefully curate what is shown on the news and don't run things that don't fit their narrative. Quiet, so I stepped outside and took it all in. Then I took the flask of Wild Turkey from my jacket pocket. As I raised the bourbon to take a pull, I felt the dirty chill of a jobs attention. The bottle shattered in my hand. This thing was absolutely a dick. I walked up to the Hoffs pretty blue door and tried my best to look presentable. My denim jacket was frayed and old, I was wearing a band shirt from a show Id never been to, and I hadn't shaved in a weeks worth of Sundays. I did brush my teeth that morning, though, so I was feeling crisp. I knocked my most professional knock and waited. A noticed a little bourbon was dripping down my pants and soaking into my socks. It was a banner day, already. A couple opened the door. The wife was short and had skin like new caramel. She wore red flannel and jeans and was shockingly pretty. His father tried the light switch by the door but nothing changed. The boy was sitting on his bed. I guessed he was right around 13 or 14 years old. John wore jeans but no shirt or shoes. He was scratching violently at his bare, skinny torso leaving open angry red lines all across his chest. “John, ” Ms. Hoff yelled running to him and grabbing his arms. “Stop. Please stop scratching, we talked about this. Youre hurting yourself. Hoff went over to squeeze his sons shoulder and then briefly stepped out of the room. He came back with rags and cleaning supplies and moved to the corner John had used as a bathroom. Mr. Hoff began to tidy up. The boy was staring at me, lips threatening a smile. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck and arms rise. Looking at him was like putting my hand close to an exposed live-wire. The wrongness was written all over and through him from the set of his shoulders to the twitch in his hand. Even his breathing seemed out of rhythm. Johns eyes were the worst part, empty as fresh graves waiting for a funeral. But if I looked long enough, I could see the faintest sign of something under the emptiness, swimming around inside of the boy, a shadow in deep water. “Hi, ” John said to me. His voice was young, normal, but carried an old note hidden under the rest. I ignored the thing pretending to be the boy. “We can go. ”. It smiled as we left. Once we were back in the Hoffs dining room, I dropped into a chair. We probably spent less than ninety seconds in Johns room but I felt tired already. The whole experience left me feeling dirty and depressed. I noticed the Hoffs were still standing, staring at me. “Do you have anything to drink? ” I asked. Hoff walked into the kitchen. “I think weve got some Coke, water, of course, or I could put on coffee, or-” “No, ” I interrupted. “Anything to drink. Hoff looked confused but Ms. Hoff was already stepping around him. She opened a cabinet next to the fridge. “Weve got some Malibu leftover from Christmas, ” Ms. Hoff said, rummaging. “And I think some vodka thats been in here long enough its turning back into potatoes. ” I rubbed my eyes. “Mr. Hoff, please put that coffee on. Im going to drag you out, ” I promised the empty room. “And leave you to dry out in the sun while you shrivel and choke. ” The faintest impression of laughter drifting from somewhere in the house. The mirror fogged and invisible fingers began to form scrawling letters. I walked out, not bothering to read whatever it wanted to write. I knew it was just going to be some stupid spooky shit, anyway. When I returned to the dining room the Hoffs were standing next to the table. A dog-eared book rested between them. “I dont know if its right but it was the first thing we could think of, ” Ms. Hoff explained, holding up the book. “It was Johns favorite when he was younger. He made us read it to him over and over, even high-lighted his favorite passages. ” Her husband smiled, mind somewhere in a memory. “John even started reading the story to Alice last year. He was so excited to share it with it, even letting her highlight her own favorite parts. John was so proud ” Mr. Hoff couldnt choke out the last words, didnt need to. His wife took his hand again. Two trees growing together. “Its okay, ” I said. “I think this is good, I think its our flare. Does it feel right to you? ” Both of them nodded. “Im going to grab some things from my car, ” I said. “Then we can get started. ”. “Is all of this necessary? ” Mr. Hoff asked, looking at the contents of the duffel bag Id dropped on the table. I went through the items one-by-one, starting with the padded nylon restraints. “The bonds are uncomfortable but theyre needed to keep John from hurting himself. Same for the battery-powered lanterns and the road flares. Just as a backup. ” I tapped the red tube lightly on the table. “The mouth guard is for John. Same reason as the restraints. Hoff picked up one of the pairs of noise-canceling headphones. “Are these for John? ” “Those are for us, ” I said. “Its going to get loud and well need to concentrate. ” John was still sitting on his bed when we entered his room. The shadows from the desk lamp drifted back and forth across the walls like the rise and recession of the tide. I set a few lanterns around the room. The light level didnt improve much. Even though the single window in the room had the curtains open, I noticed the sun coming through the glass seemed dim and dirty and gray. Darkness cluttered the room like dust in an abandoned home. There wasnt any struggle when Mr. Hoff tied Johns restraints to the bed. John just stared at me, a little grin stuck on his face. He made my skin crawl more than any of the other jobs Id taken over the past four years. It was something different in John, more present, more here than any of the others. Think happy thoughts, Jens voice, playing again from where I kept it secret and safe in the parapet of my mind. “If you slink away now, go scurry back to whatever shitty little patch of underground you came from, ” I said, addressing the thing in John. “Im going to do you a favor. Ill let you go. Im not saying I wont follow you. But Ill at least give you a head start. ” Johns grin only got wider until it was a smile like a slit throat. Hoff tied the last restraint then pulled the blanket up to Johns shoulders. When I nodded, Ms. Hoff slipped the soft guard into her sons mouth. The three of us had brought chairs from the dining room and we took our seats in a rough semi-circle around Johns bed. Hoff was closest, his hand steady on his sons shoulder. Hoff opened the book. “Should I start from the beginning or anywhere in particular? ” “Anywhere, ” I said. “Read the highlighted passages, if you like. Its not so much the words that matter as the memory, the feeling. When youre reading, remember how it made you feel to share stories with him, to tuck him in at night. I felt a swell of respect for the family. It helped me focus. I closed my eyes and tried to empty everything from my mind, to leave myself open. Theres so much commotion in the world, so much noise in our own minds. If you can push that out and really listen, sometimes you can pick up on the strangest, faintest signals. Exhaling, I reached out with my thoughts and tried to find Johns signal. A sharp bolt of pain made me wince. It felt like Id brushed against an electric fence. I pushed through it. The numbness was gone. I felt the thing coiled in my mind, solid and clear. It felt me. And it was afraid. The Not John began to pull back, to uncoil and slither away. It wanted out, to go back fully to John. I slammed the door of my mind on the presence, catching it like a tail in a rat trap. “Gotcha, ” I said through gritted teeth. The thing thrashed and kicked and bucked. It tried to slip away and it was like grabbing smoke but I held on. I turned my focus into a grip and I held on. “John, can you hear me? ” I asked, straining with the effort of keeping the thing pinned down. “I need you to listen. ” “My fault, ” John whispered, sounding human and alive for the first time. “It was my fault. ” “Bullshit. It wasnt your fault. Your parents dont blame you, your sister wouldnt blame you. And if you are damn determined to blame yourself, even then, dont you dare let it make you numb. Johns doing well. He named the familys new hamster after me which dly flattering. Im on the road a lot, always looking for new jobs, for a way to keep my promise. For a way to find Jen. Bloodraven/Bran leading Jon to a black-and-red cloak could also symbolically represent how they want to lead Jon to the truth about his parentage. If Jon gets into a relationship with Val, that would be another parallel he has with Mance, as Val and Mance's wife Dalla were sisters. And if GRRM really wants Jon to echo Mance, he could have the following scenario occur: Jon, who has been wearing Mance's cloak since his resurrection, is sentenced to the Night's Watch for murdering Daenerys. However, upon arriving at the Wall, Jon is told that he will have to dispose of his red-patched cloak and replace it with one that is pure black. Unwilling to discard the cloak that has been a part of his and Mance's journeys, and desiring the freedom to make his own choices, Jon decides to leave the Wall shortly thereafter — heading north to live out the rest of his days with the free folk. I ended up suggesting we look for it online but he has tried and couldn't find it. I ended up finding it 10 minutes was so emotional. Such raw emotions and past experiences we shared. It wasn't about being insecure, it was about respect. He's IN LOVE with his image on social media since he wants to become a big rapper. He's using Soundcloud and IG as his main platforms for seemed like he was IN LOVE with spamming other females pictures. We fought a lot. Throughout living together over the smallest things. My sweetheart ass decided to buy both of us brand new phones and finally get him on a phone plan because he lived off connecting to wifi or free wifi. Two weeks into my Birthday month I find out something so disgusting and awful. He had his passwords to his emails saved on my laptop for music and recording purposes. I decided to check his google activity which I didn't know that was even a thing. All I could see is. Used Tinder, Used Tinder, Used Tinder, Used Meet me, Used Meet me at the exact times. Exact day and hour. I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it. WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU STAY WITH ME AFTER FIGHTING TWO DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY. WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU CONTINUE TO LEAD ME WAS ON YOUR MERRY WAY TO A ONE WAY FLIGHT BACK TO NC AFTER DESPERATELY TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM YOUR TOXIC FAMILY, TOXIC DRUNK STEP DAD TWO DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY. I just don't understand why he cheated. Cheated on ME. After EVERYTHING we went through. The phone I bought him, he selfishly used for HIS GRIMEY ASS WORK. USING TINDER WHILE HIS ASS SAT AT HOME LIKE A HOUSE WIFE WHILE I WAS WORKING ALMOST didn't deserve it. You think it won't happen to you, until it does. Confrontation: That night, We were already not talking because of stupid shit. I couldn't stop myself and tried to confront him. Ask to see his phone (Which I HAVE NEVER asked in our relationship together. He refused and things went haywire. I tried to grab his phone and I was pushed away, or pinned to the wall and yelled at to stop. He grabbed his bags and started me mention he did this with me over 5 times while living together too. Threaten to pack and leave and go. We fought so much, a lot of shit broke in the house over our fights. He refused to give me his phone or show me proof he didn't have tinder. I smashed his XBOX on the floor, I couldn't deal with this pain in the moment. From them, He left and didn't take anything with him... I figured he was going to come at this point it was awful and he left me high and dry. Blocked me off everything. Blocked my number. He left back for North Carolina. I felt so betrayed. How could you say you can't wait to start a family with me, live with me and do all these things behind my back. From August-October is when he started heavily using tinder behind my back. WHO Knows what females he talked too, what females he may have BROUGHT TO MY home. He blamed me, blamed for everything. A TINDER Girl decided to threaten me, telling me to give her my EX's belongings and how I was awful to him, and didn't deserve him. I couldn't even believe this was going on with ME. Out of all people ME. I told him HE WAS GOING TO MISS ME. He was going to truly miss me. Recovery: So, At this point He has left, blocked me. I still have his belongings and I am paying for the PHONE I bought him. I couldn't understand it. Part of me really believed its my fault. It was NOT. I maintained and managed. There were days I cried in my bed in a ball, so depressed and so suicidal. Have you EVER had a time where you laid in bed crawled up into a ball crying and didn't eat for two days straight. I couldn't believe what he did. Couldn't believe this man would do this to ME, but it made me STRONGER. I was moving on, and enjoying my life again SINGLE. Rekindling with old friends, Rekindling with myself, Loving myself. Went clubbing, Went to the bars, anything to socialize and get my mind off the darker issues underneath. I was ghosted October-December December rolls this point- I am moving on. Happier and Healthier. Family was stronger than ever. My money was growing. I have amazing friends who continuously supported me, gave me a lot of confidence boosts. Guys were buying me drinks, I had a line of men ready to take me out. I deserved it. THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS: I wake up to a New INSTAGRAM that followed me. The instagram name was MY NAME and HIS NAME together. I opened the instagram and start to fucking BALL. BALL INTO TEARS ON THE FUCKING TOILET before I leave for work. The instagram consisted of. 4 pictures. Pictures of me SLEEPING. Underneath were paragraphs about how much he regret blaming me, leaving me, hurting me, how I have a piece of his heart. How he wouldn't want anyone else to BIRTH HIS SON. "Pheya" We always talked about. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH... I accepted his apology but still was so talked but it wasn't the same, It was dry and dead conversations leading to nothing. So again, I still had his passwords saved and decided to look at his phone history again. HE WAS STILL USING TINDER. I confronted him, HE LIED again. I could NOT DO IT. I couldn't feed into his bullshit again. So we stopped talking shortly after again. End of January- We speak again. Why do I keep letting this man in my life? I don't fucking know. We tried to get on good fucking terms. We spoke on the phone and it seemed like he was ready to show me he was going to change. It seemed like he was honestly sorry for his mistakes and wanted to show me different. His google activity was showing no signs of dating such. So I OPEN up again. He said he wanted us to progress. I still have my gear up at this point. I couldn't trust him the same, but I tried to be positive, and "progress. It's FEBRUARY: We are talking in civil terms, Snapchatting, Following each other on social media, Sending each other Goodmorning/Goodnight texts. It felt like maybe he did change. Maybe he really is realizing what he lost. I was planning a North Carolina trip to see him and also get a tap out tattoo sessions from his artist. The prices in Chicago are insane and it seemed right to go down next month. Feb 8th: I decided to check his google phone activity once again... I couldn't BELIEVE IT. I COULD NOT FUCKING BELIEVE HE DECIDED TO GET ON A NEW DATING APP! A NEW ONE! He denied it straight to my face. Lied to me again. LIED LIED LIED. I told this man... FUCKED. UP. (I plan on still visiting NC for my tattoos. I have over 16 tattoos and prices here are on crack. I plan on going with my brother so I'm not alone. Hi all, I've compiled some comments from Portuguese people on r/soccer talking about Bruno and thought it was worth posting here to help us get a better idea of the player he is. The comments were found on various threads going back a year or so. You'll probably notice that most of them are extremely positive but I didn't make any effort to leave out negative opinions on him, they just weren't really there. Bear in mind some of the comments are replies to others so are potentially missing a little bit of context. I've used these brackets. on a few comments to make things a bit clearer. And please forgive the formatting if it's shit, I'm on mobile /u/itsrmv - He is a God. One of the best players to play in our league in the last years. He's 100% responsible for where we currently stand in the League and for us to be in the Cup final. It will be nearly impossible to keep him here for one more season, but fuck, I would love to see him stay. u/HFDC99 - I can't wait for him to leave so that I can stop pretending he isn't a phenomenal player and easily the best player in the league /u/LusoAustralian - I don't know what Mezz'ala is but he isn't a CAM. He does too much in recovering the ball, ticking over possession, securing the ball and other midfield tasks that are not flashy enough for 10s. He's pretty decent defensively, not his strongest point, but he puts on pressure and isn't afraid to do what's necessary in defence. So I'd say a complete center midfield who can really control the middle of the pitch with a great amount of individual skills that are so vital in his goals and assists. Dribbling, vision, passing, intelligence, etc. are all things he has. /u/KneeDeepInTheDead - Its hard to tell how players will do in another league. Id think hed do well, but I also thought Jimenez wouldnt be much but hes been crucial at Wolves. Same with Pereira in Leicester, I thought he would be out of his depth but hes proven to be good. To me he's the real deal though, I tend to be pessimistic about our own players but he's proven his worth over and over and over. /u/santorfo [asked if Bruno was a one season wonder or if it was natural progression. Natural progression, he was already carrying Sporting on his back last season, with lesser numbers because Bas Dost was still banging them in. This year [18-19] Dost has been very underwhelming and Bruno had to step up to be Sporting's main figure and he did so exceptionally. /u/PlutoIsFlat - His vision and workrate are great. His passes are really really good as well as his finishing which is (most of the times) better than our strikers' He is also great at free kicks, corners and at taking penalties He is the best player that has played for us in quite some time. I hope, for his own sake, that he goes for a bigger club this summer (but to one that plays him and not just keeps him on the bench) u/mugiwara - It's poetry in motion to watch him /u/Konstanti9 - Bruno Fernandes is really good tho, he is carrying Sporting Lisbon more less in the same level that Bale did with Spurs. /u/1Warrior4All - Dude is a midfielder scoring 20 goals in a season and he doesn't even play in Porto or Benfica, all his teammates are shit. You can say 'that's just the portuguese league' okay but none other midfielder that I remember had such a high goal ratio in our league. He is the best midfielder I have seen in our league since Deco. If Pogba leaves he would be a great replacement. /u/saint-simon97 - Always hard to say when a player goes from Portugal to a top league. But he definitely has quality, probably the best player for us in this decade. Amazing technical quality and its a worthy investment from City. Whether he's successful or not depends on a lot of factors but I believe he can very well be. I think he's worth whatever the market can pay for him. It's worth noting we haven't been in the UCL this year, we didn't go far in Europe, we didn't challenge for the title and that affects his price tag. But I think anything from 60 to 80m would be a fair price. /u/LusoAustralian - Adrien combined with Matígol and then improved by another 50. Best midfielder I've ever seen play for us quite possibly. /u/TunTee - I didn't see him play much in Italy but I can tell you that when he first came to Sporting there were times when he went missing while playing behind the striker. With Jesus we always played a 4-4-2 with two forwards, usually a target man like Slimani or Bas Dost and then an SS like Alan Ruiz or Teo Gutiérrez, and it took a while to really accomodate Bruno properly. I remember in the first league match of 17/18, away against Aves, we played him behind Dost and with William/Adrien as our midfield and he didn't do so well, I guess because he was so far away from the midfield and not being able to work as the connector in offensive play. He was subbed out in the second half and I think that's when JJ realized he couldn't play Bruno that far up on his own. In the next matches, he either played him as a box-to-box (Adrien went to Leicester at the end of August so it opened up a spot) or as a number 10, basically switching our tactic to something closer to a 4-2-3-1, and that's when he really started shining. Playing further back also enabled him to play facing the goal, and not the other way around, which in turn let him show us his two biggest qualities: his ability to think and orchestrate the offensive play (his long range passing and link-up play are great) and his long shots. Maybe some of the reasons why he didn't do so well in Italy are related to the way he was placed on the field, because if he played as an SS like you were saying, I wouldn't be surprised if he continuously performed like he did on that first league match. /u/gerirsporting - I love him. Please dont leave. /u/ForcadoUALG - I don't understand the argument that you will perform worse if you have better teammates around you. Bruno is not only goals, he is so much more than that, and people failing to realize that are just those that know he scores goals and don't watch the actual games. /u/NMRT - Absolute monster. This guy would be a solid addition to a lot of top clubs out there, but his temper is probably the major flaw. /u/PhillyFreezer. Absolutely no surprise in the Primeira Liga. He played for teams far from being at the top in Italy and he performed fairly well especially considering that he was a foreign player at such a young age. The same way you are asking me to justify that stat [pass accuracy] being lower than other players, I can ask you why no other playmaker managed to match his number of goals, or have as many assists. He might fail, he might succeed, but if anyone is worth taking the shot is him, who has proved he can put up those numbers for more than one season. If the fact that he plays in Portugal isn't enough to earn a transfer to the Premier League, I advise you to look at the likes of Jiménez, who wasn't that great here and now is scoring for fun in England. Just like there are players who do great in Portugal and then fail in the "big" leagues, there are numerous examples of players and managers who weren't that great here and are doing great in England, Spain or Germany. Our league might not be as good as those, true, but it certainly isn't for lack of ability to develop talent, we just don't have money to throw around to keep our talent and complement it, since the economic gap keeps widening. /u/JSantosPT - Sporting currently is Bruno + 10 he literally does everything in the attacking phase /u/MarquesSCP - He is way too good. He was signed to Interscope early in his career then signed to Young Jeezy's CTE label, which he then left after a beef with him, you can learn more about it through the song Real which is targeted at Jeezy. He went independant for a while and then recently signed to RCA Records right before dropping Bandana. After years of solid album/mixtapes with moderate success, Freddie Gibbs dropped Thuggin EP with Madlib as a producer. The EP served as a preview for what would become his most critically acclaimed album: Piñata. The title track. Thuggin " is mostly what set-up the hype for the album because of how good and unique it sounds, this was the first time we heard someone doing drug/mafioso rap over a Madlib beat and this song is still considered one of the best of the album even though it came out 2 years before its release. For those who have never heard of Freddie Gibbs, his rap-style is mostly pretty fast-paced, cadence heavy, street related drug talk. There is hardly any beat that this dude didn't rap over, from classic hip-hop, to Trap to even EDM and he's clearly one of the hardest working rapper of his generation, with pretty much at least a project every year for the past 10+ years. His 3 biggest influences to me are Scarface, Z-Ro and Krayzie Bone. Piñata is in my opinion, one of the best hip-hop albums of the 2010s, him and Madlib made an outstanding duo that made him sound a lot more focused and concised that he has ever been. The album was so good that Piñata became the entry point for Freddie's discography to a lot of people and even if the rest of his discography is great ( BFK, Pronto EP, YOL2 that I can't recommend many more) I still see a lot of people on the sub that only heard this album and Bandana and skipped the rest which is a shame. Freddie's rapping coupled with Madlib's creative sample chopping made this album sound timeless, you could listen to it and think it's a 90s classic and I wouldn't be surprised, this is a top tier mafioso rap project to me and a great intro to what Freddie is capable of. After seeing the critical acclaim that Piñata received, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib decided to drop a sequel called Bandana, which was released June 28th, 2019. Review While I don't like to compare the two because of how high he set the bar on Piñata, I know it's what the people are going to talk about on here so i'd rather give my opinion on it first. I feel like Bandana is as good as a follow-up as it could be and that it's unfair to really compare the two because first, Bandana wouldn't exist without Piñata obviously and second, hearing Freddie Gibbs and Madlib for the first time on Piñata is a feeling that won't ever be replicated unless maybe Bandana was your entry point to Freddie Gibbs, and so I feel like there will always be a bias towards the first opus you heard if that makes sense. Contrary to "Scarface" which set the tone for a dark, raw street album, Freestyle Sh! t" sounds like a coming home track. The warning at the start means one thing: Freddie Gibbs is ready to take over and he wastes no time as we can see with his very first lyrics on the project: I want it all, n*gga, all leather 25th and Jackson, I'm back in action like Carl Weathers Tryna beat the Rocky like Carl Weathers Trap boy Kane, I Clubber Lang Sylvester Crack cocaine, I was my own investor Could I do this shit independent? That was my only question Freddie Gibbs on Piñata made it a point to make it sound more local and modest; a story of his life on the streets having to hustle to survive. In contrast Bandana is considerably more ambitious, more grandiose. He said it himself: he wants it all. With chanting horns, and more political tracks like "Education" Freddie has moved from addicts smoking crack in his music videos, to popping champagne bottles in the mountains, representing a clear evolution from where we left off on Piñ can even be seen in the album cover, we left the streets and the park benches we see in Piñata and wee see Quas riding his Zebra on top of a post-apocalyptic Hollywood, ready to take over the industry with Freddie Gibbs's rise in popularity since the Piñata release. The horns and the numerous Rocky references to open the track makes "Freestyle Sh! t" sound like a triumphant return after Piñata, reminiscent of a boxer's entrance song, in a sense. Freddie Gibbs is back and it kinda feels like he knows that not everyone followed his music from Piñata to today because most of his fanbase would know that, outside of his jail sentence that was rather short-lived, 2016 was the only year during that 5 year period where he hasn't dropped a solo project. I don't think doing a track-by-track analysis would be too interesting since the album isn't all that conceptual and is more about Freddie Gibbs talking about different topics over Madlib's production and for those who have yet to listen to it, I don't think a lyrical analysis would do the album enough justice as Freddie's flow and Madlib's beat switches are really what makes this album great overall. I'm pausing this write-up again to encourage you to dig more into Freddie Gibbs's discography, dude has interesting shit in pretty much anything of his discography and albums like YOL2 or BFK are criminally overlooked. He has a LOT more great shit than just his collabs with Madlib, some of my favorite songs from him like "Andrea" or Pronto don't sound like anything on Piñata/Bandana. Where Bandana shines compared to Piñata is that, like Freddie Gibbs himself said in an interview, Madlib actually catered his sound to Freddie Gibbs on this album and tried to match his energy rather than him just making a great but un-personal beat and having Freddie Gibbs rap over it like they did on their last collab. Madlib experiments on this album with his first ever trap beat on "Half Manne Half Cocaine" which was very surprising on first listen, even though I feel that, after the surprise factor drops off, the execution kinda sticks like a sore thumb when you're used to hearing Freddie Gibbs rap over much harder-knockin and better mixed trap beat. Situations is a much better attempt at a modern beat from Madlib to me. Madlib is not alone in his experimentation on Bandana, with Freddie singing quite a bit more than we've heard on previous efforts. His first experience with singing on a track dates back to "Careless" off Shadow of A Doubt which followed Piñata. He has had a few tracks he tried to sing on, however he was mostly fucking around and while it was hilarious, like the Freddie rollout video or Now & Later Gators" I was wondering if he would make another track where he really tried to sing again and I was NOT expecting him to do it twice over Madlib beats. You can hear him sing on "Situations" and "Gat Damn" for essentially the whole track, as well as the hook on "Soul Right" which might be the best out of the 3. This album is running for 14 tracks discarding the intro but the 4 beat switches (5 counting the outro. changes of cadence like Situations make it feel like a lot more. This is one of the strongest points about the album to me because it keeps you on your toes, brings a lot of replay value and can completely change your perspective of a track. I wasn't the biggest fan of "Flat Tummy Tea" s beat at first but i'm replaying this song way more now just to hear what it builds up to. There isn't a lot of features on this album but I don't think there is a single miss out of these 5 and if you're a Freddie Gibbs fan, you are glad to see an album that isn't bloated with features like ESGN was. He said on numerous interviews that artists like Migos vaulted features he has with them because they were getting outshined and you can see that Freddie isn't afraid of competition with the type of people he brings on there. Freddie Gibbs actually got outperformed by every feature he brung on there (not counting Killer Mike who only did a hook) and I think it's very respectable from him to bring out top tier rappers like Mos Def or Black Thought to convey a message on a song better than he could. A lot of people seem to say that Pusha T's feature was the standout verse of the album but I actually think that Anderson Paak completely owned the show on "Giannis" and made it his song as soon as he came in: Caine all in the blood Shots to the brain, Snow on tha Bluff Calls for a truce, but truce came with snubs Bodies hit the pavement, money came for months I also think that outside of one specific line, Freddie Gibbs verse on "Palmolive" wasn't that far from Push quality-wise. Mos Def's verse was very good too and I loved the overall motive each rapper repeated in Education: I may not be here I'm feelin' like I might just leave before I start a fire or a fight I kind of see it as a way to say that the pressure put on black kids causes them to either flee the system or " come out crazy " like Mos said at the start of his verse. Wasn't expecting that deep of a suggest matter on a Freddie Gibbs album to be honest. To stay as objective as possible even though I love this album, I don't think this is the best project Freddie Gibbs has lyrically and I feel like him dropping so many projects between the two collabs for sure made him "waste" great content on projects than weren't as ambitious / under the spotlight like Bandana was. Songs like "Colors" or "Willie Lloyd" are great performances from him that could've made it on the album and he kept his introspective content a bit short because he adressed it already through tracks like "Homesick" or "Freddie Gordy. The mixing seems off at times, the drums are mixed a bit too high at times, there is a vinyl-type filter on some songs that took me a while to get over and the vocal mixing on Education is absolutely awful, I actually couldn't hear Black Thought when I listened to the album with my moderately-cheap ear plugs. I also feel like Freddie Gibbs fell a bit short next to rappers like Mos Def because political-lyricism simply isn't his lane and even though his flow is great, his content sounds kinda hollow next to him and Black Thought on "Education. His takes on vaccinations make him very hard to take seriously as a intellectual in my opinion but I'll keep that topic for later in this write-up. Freddie Gibbs overall cadence on this is absolutely nuts, I was scared he would suffer from clumsy fast-paced rap flows like he did on tracks like "Dear Maria" off of YOL2 but far from it, even if this might not have have as many quotables as he had on Fetti or Piñata this might be the best he ever sounded delivery-wise: Pouring up, foreigned up, three bricks, I'm a hundred up Jack a pussy, blow his pack, that's how you fuck the summer up Doesn't read as something that impressive lyrically but his overall flow and cadence through the beat switch of "Fake Names" is absolute perfection. That doesn't mean that Freddie Gibbs lyrics are contentless neither, he has a lot of quotables on there like the opening bars of "Flat Tummy Tea" I beat the pot like Joseph beat Mike and Jermaine One came out light, one came out dark but they smokin' the same Freddie Gibbs's comedic presence is still as present as it was on Piñata, with the skits like the end of Situations or the music videos for "Gat Damn" or "Half Manne Half Cocaine. Freddie Gibbs made a name for himself on instagram for his memes and mostly VERY NSFW stories and I had to bring that up somewhere as it birthed so many running jokes inside his community. He has these quick one-liners that has nothing to do with the songs and are just hilarious like on Cataracts: Turkey bacon, bitch, I like my toast buttered on both sides This album has so many layers to it, you go from dark and nightmarish tracks like "Half Manne Half Cocaine's" second half to odd melody-lacking beats like "Massage seats" soulful with "Practice" intense like "Fake Names" or "Soul Right. While Piñata marks me as a winter-ish album, Bandana strikes me as a lot warmer, tracks like "Giannis. Cataracts" or "Crime Pays" feels light, summery, almost funky. The only thing missing would be a heavy 808 track or two and it would be the perfect introduction to Freddie Gibbs's world and what he amounted to after all these years. He clearly showed his range on it and outside autotune, I can't think of something he didn't try and did great at in hip-hop. My favorites tracks would be "Fake Names. Cataracts" and "Pamolive" with "Practice" having the overall best beat and ranking higher every listen. Only tracks I don't really play would be "Gat Damn. Massage Seats" and "Soul Right" and I don't hate them at all. The album sold 17k first week with 7k pure sales, which is the highest Freddie Gibbs ever sold, and if you follow Freddie Gibbs on social media, especially instagram, you can see that he promoted this project more than any project he did in the past. He even came up with a fake add for a "Flat Tummy Tea" to announce his single of the same name, he knew he would be clowned for it on social media and used that attention to drop his single the next day. This is honestly very smart marketing and it's cool to see how seriously he takes his name being seen out here this avanced in his career. Note that the album leaked beforehand so he probably lost a bit of sales. During Bandana 's rollout, Freddie Gibbs announced that his collaboration will Madlib will have one more episode with Montana, which release date has yet to be announced. Controversy With Bandana and some of his recent IG stories, Freddie Gibbs has been under some controversy and I would like to adress it first because I knew this was gonna be brung up in this thread. The main controversial point is his takes on vaccination. For those who aren't aware, Freddie Gibbs got arrested in France while shooting the music video for "Lay Back" yes, i'm plugging my country because that song is amazing) because he was accused to have sexually abused a girl during his tour, he was sent to jail in Austria and from the rapping in YOL2, he was wrongly accused and his homeboys who abused the girl left him to rot in prison. His lawyer seems shady as fuck if you're asking me but he seems to have immense respect in him because he basically saved his life and so he seems to trust him enough to share his lawyer's anti-vaxx opinions because of that and not second guess it. The second one is that eddie Gibbs is kind of an old-fashion dumbass lol. Dude said that being a male rape victim was being pussy, he's been having a lot of terrible opinions/ shouldn't be an example to follow. "Teddy’s job was to wait outside until the sex worker inside texted him. Then he’d knock twice on the door and wait for her to exit safely. This is how he met the two women who’ve now accused him of sexual assault and unlawful confinement. In the article, Teddy says: “It was too easy making 800 a night driving girls around and not having to climb to the top ropes and wear the boots for 200. I don’t want anything to do with that lifestyle anymore, which is why I went to Dallas in the first place. ” This Rolling Stone article is important because Samantha Fiddler was present during the interview. 2014 Teddy's Sexual Assault Charges The Calgary Herald has a story on this case: In 2014, Teddy was accused of sexual assault, unlawful confinement and assault of two women. "The specifics of the 2013 and 2014 events that led to the charges aren’t publicized, and the identities of the women are under a strict Canadian publication ban. However, the women, who had relationships with Teddy, allege multiple instances where he threatened to kill their pets and family members, physically and sexually assaulted them and confiscated their IDs and phones. They say he filmed sexual acts to blackmail them. One of the women says that she wasn’t a sex worker until Teddy pimped her out, and that he drained her of 229, 000 in a matter of months, mostly for weed and cat food. Hart maintains that the charges are false, calling them revenge for money they’ve lost through his marijuana operations. The charges were withdrawn at the start of a preliminary hearing May 26 2016. A spokeswoman with Alberta Justice says the Crown determined after a review that the case did not meet the criteria needed to proceed. They filmed Teddy during this alleged whore phase and apparently Samantha Fiddler is present in the house and was filmed. The producers brought footage of the documentary to Animal Planet. The executives saw film of Teddy juggling his cats and were appalled, and that was it for that meeting. The film makers talk about how while Teddy is sometimes entertaining, he did a lot of awful things. They started to question if they should even be making the documentary. The sexual assault lawsuit changed the nature of the documentary. The film makers said they had "unprecedented access" to everyone in the lawsuit, and were unsure of how much they should say. Jail Time: Teddy says he went to jail for rape. When the cops came to arrest him, he threatened to shoot himself in the head. This claim was made on " Best Friends with Teddy Hart. where Chuck Taylor is visibly uncomfortable. I believe when he says rape, he's referring to these sexual assault charges that he ultimately beat. But he uses this time in jail as an alibi for why he had nothing to do with Samantha Fiddler's disappearance. On this video, he gives some details about his time in jail. 2017 Teddy's Assault on the Disabled and Attempt to Evade Arrest In 2017, he was arrested for a hazardous traffic violation and an attempt to evade lawful arrest. The charges were dropped a month later. Teddy tells the story of this arrest to a very obviously uninterested Chris Jericho. Not sure how that fits in to everything, but Teddy's stories are all over the place. Teddy the Stripper Uber Driver: Teddy says got a job as an uber driver driving strippers home. One night, he was drinking a glass of water at the strip club (like we all do) and someone must have spiked his drink. He tried driving home inebriated and got in a 90 minute police chase and was tasered 13 times (come on, Teddy. Of course, his car was dangling over a precipice as the police repeatedly tazed him. He had 4 cats in the car who apparently went un-tazed. Teddy says that he falsely claimed to have a drinking problem to go to rehab because it would look good - even though he doesn't have a drinking problem. WWE paid for it. This fucking guy. Teddy's Time in the Clink: Teddy says: Seven and a half months of my life was locked up during that time and two months of that was in rehab so that's 9 months out of a year and a half that I was dealing with the rules and limitations on what I could do and I still took 40 matches or bookings and I think all of those matches were four star matches.
